There are several major changes in my shopping habits that I've made that have enabled me to save big time at the register.

I follow these few "rules" and save big!

1. I clip all coupons. Yes, I said ALL. We'll see why later.
2. I buy/obtain multiple copies of newspapers for the coupons. I usually buy a couple and get a couple more sets of coupons given to me. (usually 5 sets)
3. I stock up on items when they are on SALE and have a COUPON for them.
4. I pay attention to the prices of things to know if its a "good deal" or not.

Example:
Hamburger Helper Costs $1.79 at Giant Eagle normally.
You will see coupons for this once in a while for $0.75 off 3

Is this a good deal?

NO!!!!

Here's a "good" deal---
It goes on sale sometimes for $1 each. THIS is when you use the coupon for $0.75 off of 3. You will get double coupons at GE and the final cost will be $1.50 for 3 boxes. You are getting 3 for LESS THAN the price of 1 at normal cost. This would be the time to stock up on Hamburger Helper. If you bought several papers- you could buy 15 boxes for $7.50 instead of the normal price of $26.85.
